About Us : Faculty & Staff : Dr. Brad R. Walker - Bio
Dr. Brad Walker brings with him over 25 years of experience working with children, youth, and adults with visual impairments. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Disabilities from Florida State University, and received his Master of Science degree in Visual Rehabilitation/Low Vision from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He earned his Ph.D. in Special Education, with specialization in Visual Impairment and Low Vision, in 1990, from The University of Texas at Austin where he also established their first Orientation & Mobility Training Program. Dr. Walker holds state licensure as a Teacher for Visual Impairment. He is currently certified by ACVREP as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist, Rehabilitation Teacher, and Low Vision Therapist. Presently, Dr. Walker is an Associate Professor at North Carolina Central University where he is Coordinator of VI Related Services (O&M) with the Visual Impairment Training Program.
