Course Description
This course provides an overview of the normal and abnormal development of the human eye. Included are topics of ocular anatomy and physiology; pathological conditions affecting the human eye, and clinical and functional vision assessments. A strong component of low vision is provided within this course, which includes functional vision assessments, environmental vision assessments, optics, the use of optical devices, and the principles of optimizing visual efficiency. Throughout the program, the impact of vision loss on the learning process and techniques for encouraging the use of vision during functional activities are included.
