Teacher Licensure Fast Track

Are you interested in adding Visual Impairments to your existing teaching certificate? Are you needing 1 or 2 classes to finish your coursework for licensure?

Are you looking for an alternative to traditional college courses?

Our Fast Track Program may be for you.

You can complete the process in the following way:

Spring Semester, 2008 (or prior)
Complete the following on-line courses:

EDEC 5501 Introduction to Visual Impairments
EDEC 5502 Introduction to Braille

Summer, 2008
Attend classes on the Governor Morehead School Campus or through teleclassroom.

June 16-20 and July 7-11, 2008 (you must attend both weeks)
8:00 – 12:00 EDEC 5604 Methods, and Materials for the VI Learner
1:00 – 5:00 EDEC 5601 Structure and Function of the Eye

We will also be offering June 23rd - 27th and July 14th - 18th (you must attend both weeks)
8:00 - 12:00 EDEC 5602 Teaching Braille and Communications
1:00 - 5:00 EDEC 5603 O&M for the Classroom Teacher

Fall, 2008
Complete the following on-line courses:

EDEC 5504 Specialized Braille Code
EDEC 5609 Assessment and Planning for Diverse Learners with VI

Spring, 2009
Begin Practicum hours (work with advisor to set up practicum)

Summer, 2009
Attend the following courses on the GMS Campus or through teleclassroom:

June 15-19 and July 6-10, 2009
8:00 – 12:00 EDEC 5602 Teaching Braille and Communications
1:00 – 5:00 EDEC 5603 Orientation & Mobility f/t Classroom Teacher
