Program Plans - Add-On Advanced Licensure
Admission
Admission to the Add-on Advanced License Program will be available to students who have initial license in their specialty area and a M.A.T. or equivalent in special education.
Required Course Work
Students will take six hours of Core Courses and nine hours in their specialty area. In addition, students will have to demonstrate advanced competencies in technology or will be required to take one of the following courses:
EDIM 5855 Advanced Technology for Educators (3) OR
EDEC 5679 Adaptive Technologies for Special Populations
Core Courses: (6)
EDGR 5925 Applied Research Techniques (3)
EDGR 5465 Teachers as Leaders (3).
Special Education Courses in Visual Impairment (9)
EDEC 5511 Advanced Aspects of Low Vision
EDEC 5512 Deaf/Blind and Multiple Disabilities
EDEC 5513 Advanced Seminar in Visual Impairments
Students possessing an undergraduate degree in Visual Impairments should apply for the full Master's Degree program. Students enrolling in this program who already possess a graduate-level degree should apply for the Second-degree Master's Degree program.
