Master Degree Program
The Visual Impairment Training Program offers three different Master’s
degree programs in the field of visual impairments.
The Master’s of Education Program (M.Ed.) is at 39 hour program designed
for individuals with Bachelor’s Degrees in any subject area. (Prospective
students may be required to complete prerequisite education courses, contact
an advisor for a transcript evaluation.) Graduates of this program will
be eligible to apply for state licensure as a teacher of learners with visual
impairments (TVI).
The Masters of Arts of Teaching in Visual Impairments (MAT-VI) is a 65 hour
program of study for students seeking licensure in special education general
curriculum and visual impairments.
Course Requirements
- Master's of Education in Orientation & Mobility (M.Ed.-O&M)
- Master's of Arts in Teaching - VI Teaching (MAT-VI)
- Master's of Education (M.Ed.)




Non-Degree Plans
Add-On VI Licensure
O&M Certification-Only
Prospective students who possess an undergraduate or graduate degree in
an education/rehabilitation field may be eligible for O&M Certification-Only.
Individuals enrolled in this program complete only those courses necessary
to become eligible for certification in Orientation and Mobility.
Advanced Licensure
Personal / Professional Development
Most courses offered within the program may be taken by interested
individuals for personal information and growth, to enhance professional
skills, or to meet continuing education requirements designated by a particular
profession.
